Construction of wastewater treatment plants in the municipalities of Radovish, Kicevo and Strumica

The project Construction of Wastewater treatment plants in the Municipalities of Radovish, Kichevo and Strumica/ EuropeAid/137137/IH/WKS/MK is co-funded by the European Union through the IPA Operational Programme for Regional Development (2007-2013), and administered by the Central Financing and Contracting Department at Ministry of Finance of Republic of Macedonia in close coordination with the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning as well as involved municipalities.

The overall purpose of the project was to ensure design and construction of waste water treatment plants in the Municipalities of Radovish, Kichevo and Strumica with the aim to achieve wastewater collection and treatment quality services that enables the country to comply with wastewater collection and treatment standards defined in the relevant EU Directives as well as in the national legislation.

The project started with implementation in 2016 and was implemented in three different Lots that includes the following scope of the work:

Lot 1: Construction of waste water treatment plant and rehabilitation and extension of the priority sewerage network in the Municipality of Radovish

Section 1 Design and build Wastewater treatment plant with capacity of 25.000 P.E. for the Municipality of Radovish.

Section 2 Infrastructure to the Waste water treatment plant

  • Provision of electricity supply from the town of Radowish to the new WWTP and lighting of local access road;
  • Provision of portable water supply for the new WWTP with length 1668 m;
  • Construction of main city gravity sewers to the WWTP;
  • Construction of access road from Radovish to the location of WWTP with length 1510 m.

Section 3

  • Rehabilitation and upgrading of the existing sewerage system in Radovish approx. 3300 m;
  • Additional sewer collector with 1.594 m length, for reducing the groundwater infiltration and accordingly to reduce the dilution of the influent of the new WWTP.

Lot 2 Construction of wastewater treatment plant in the Municipality of Kichevo

  • Design and construction of a wastewater treatment plant with capacity 48.000 P.E.
  • Construction of access road with about 525,5 m length and 5m width
  • Connection of WWTP with electric power and other public utilities
  • Construction of flood protection works
  • Construction of the main collector and connection of the main collector to the inlet of WWTP

Lot 3 Construction of wastewater treatment plant in the Municipality of Strumica

  • Design and construction of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) with capacity 53.000 P.E.
  • Connection of WWTP with electric power and other public utilities
  • Construction of the main collector and connection of the main collector to the inlet of WWTP

The project is implemented by WTE Wassertechnik GmbH, Essen Germany in consortium with Trade company for production, projecting and engineering Vardargradba DOO and the infrastructures constructed within the project are in Defect notification period and the same are operated by the Public Communal Utilities of the relevant municipalities.
